Spammers and trash posters are present in all forums, also here - merit system can not help, if the member want to spam & trash, he/she will do it.
But they have no incentive to spam which reduces the number of spammers we have here and also,
wait for it... reduces the amount of spam and trash post.
The merit system means spammers are not rewarded with higher ranks for the number of posts they make here without any consideration to if they offer any value at all.
