I honestly don't know what exactly happened to Manchester United, which is certain this season they are worse than last season. Now the performance and appearance of Ten Hag's squad is far from consistent, defeats still dominate them on the standings in the few matches they have passed since the beginning of the season. Obviously it is very reasonable, the facts that happened were very far from the expectations of their supporters, let alone Manchester United playing at home but having to experience defeat from a squad that I think is not too strong and ordinary, this is very embarrassing even until the last minute of added time they still have difficulty creating opportunities to produce goals.
The rest of course there must be a very deep disappointment from their supporters due to the results of this completely unexpected match, honestly I also did not expect that until the end of the match Manchester United really could not get a goal back at all even to equalize even though it seemed very difficult. The simplest reason is that Ten Hag is missing several key players due to injuries and suspensions. Then from that, Rashford, who performed well last season, seemed to have dropped a lot this season by only scoring 1 goal and 1 assist in 7 matches. Rasmus Højlund has not been in great form either and he is still struggling to find his first goal in 4 matches. Bruno Fernandes, who recorded 8 assists and 8 goals last season, has only recorded 1 assist in 7 matches, so all of Manchester United's important players so far have experienced a decline in form.
Ten Hag certainly still has room to make improvements to his team, including in defense, but he admits that everyone is frustrated due to the less than satisfactory results at the start of this season. Ten Hag must try to be better at planning his game strategy and tactics, but if players like Rashford lose confidence then of course this team will tend to fail.
Players are indeed missing, but I would not call the playing team a bad team. They had problems at the beginning of last season as well and then started a winning streak, but often had some crashes that nobody could really explain. I don't know how good Ten Hag really is. It seems that he is not a good motivator and that players sometimes have issues with them. You can then often see that players start playing against a coach instead of for the club. Burnley so far has a single point and yet Manchester United had trouble beating them, but have a look at their formation. That's not a bad formation at all.
