The adoption of blockchain technology for digital identity verification is a significant step forward in modernizing government services and ensuring the safety and privacy of citizens' personal information. As more nations and regions embrace blockchain for such critical applications, the potential for a more secure and efficient digital future becomes increasingly promising.
What do you think ?
Should Africa follow suit?
This is a great move from the Brazilian government. in my country, we have different citizen information systems that are prone to error and manipulation. I just recently spoke with a friend who informed me that he reduced his age in the national identity system because of the job he wants to get. I later discovered that civil servants in the National Identity office receive bribes from people to manipulate their personal information. It would have been difficult to change the data if it were blockchain technology. And blockchain technology will make access to digital identity systems faster.
Many African countries do not have a comprehensive and functional citizen information system, but blockchain technology offers a viable opportunity for many African countries to take into modern, secure, and reliable information. African countries should follow the moving train before it will be too late. This is because very soon many nations will depend on blockchain for many aspects of administration. Africa will also experience economic growth because an effective identity system will make business operations easy and will also reduce financial crime, which will attract foreign investors. Foreign investors want to invest in nations thay have a good citizen information system.
