There are a couple of more teams in my opinion that could be interested in him and that could be of interest to him. It is not only PSG and Real Madrid. If Mbappe goes to Real Madrid I think Osimhen won't be interesting to Real Madrid, but could in turn be interesting to PSG. 
Though there are a few other clubs without a strong striker, but I think the condition is that the club is in the top 6 or top 7 in Europe I think.
This will be a domino effect where when we know that last season there was drama between PSG and Mbappe actually if at that time Mbappe decided to leave then the target of PSG was Osimhen and they even in some rumors were ready to offer 150 million for Osimhen if Mbappe left with a dowry of 200-250 million according to the clause that PSG wanted. Though there are a few other clubs without a strong striker, but I think the condition is that the club is in the top 6 or top 7 in Europe I think.
But it's like a benchmark where high-priced players are definitely linked to Madrid and PSG right now and obviously the key is Mbappe.
I think next year's summer transfer will be even more interesting because I still think that by then Mbappe will have been let go by PSG.
That is what I would say, too. But I partially disagree with your last sentence in so far that it feels like this topic might once again not come to an end. I tend to believe the transfer to Real Madrid will become reality, but there is a good bit of doubt left because Al Khelaifi might again approach him and put a bag of cash on the table that Mbappe feels once again he can't refuse.
Or I could be completely wrong and the contracts are more or less written by now. But given how all the drama enfolded around Mbappe in the past, I would rather wait and see
