If Ten Hag is still given the opportunity until his contract expires, I think he will recruit new players in defense. he will struggle to mold United's defensive line which has been quite chaotic this season.
Ten Hag definitely knows the weaknesses of his squad. and he will only use them until the transfer window opens. If he gets support from the club, he will definitely bring in several players to strengthen the squad. even though we know not everything will be as successful as expected.

United are still in trouble, but we don't know that from the coach or the players. last season they also performed quite well after half the season. However, Ten Hag doesn't want to get pressure from fans. maybe he should be nicer to the players and start putting together a solid team.
He tried last season but somehow I didn't really like their signings in defense and some of the other decisions that were made there like bringing back Evans as an alternative in defense and trying to keep Maguire even though there were offers that were detrimental but with Maguire's performance in the previous few seasons I think it could be a good choice with the value that West Ham offered.

At the moment they still have to try and find some players and that's something that has to happen because at the end of the day even if their attack is always scoring goals it won't mean much if their defense is weak and always conceding goals.

@topbitcoin Ten Hag wasted 55 million on Mount when he could have used that money to upgrade the defence and even if he’s given the opportunity to upgrade the defence the club will have to overpay for the player because he’ll want a player whom he has trained. Lastly Manchester United need to sell defenders to raise cash and buy better player’s but whom they sell will be very important because they failed to sell their defenders in the summer transfer window and without selling I doubt that they can buy in the upcoming transfer window.

The problem about Mount is that I wouldn't typically deem him a waste or do you think so? I mean the guy really has great potential, he is a dribbler, but I don't know all the issues that are going on for him, I think he just needs the right hand to lead and teach him. A coach like Alex Ferguson might have been the right one to squeeze out all the best of Mount. If he now ends up as a failed transfer, I am not sure he is the only one to blame here.
