Last season there were no less interesting defeats like 0-4 against Brighton or 0-7 against Liverpool  Wink But since then (at least from the game with Brighton) the club has spent 400 million on transfers and Ten Hag got those he wanted. Onana looks like the biggest mistake so far. If De Gea had questions about playing with his feet, then for Onana there is a question: by what can you even play with, buddy?
And Ten Hag’s arguments about psychology, spirit and other nonsense irritate me, it gives the impression that he is incompetent.

Manchester United management paid Ten Hag huge funds to add players of Ten Hag's own choice to the squad. But even then Ten Hag completely failed to strengthen the team. Adding Onana to the squad was probably Ten Hag's mistake. But ten Hag was also wrong to make Hojlund the main striker of the squad this season. United needed an experienced striker. Hojlund is talented but not experienced enough. Hojlund still lacks the ability to consistently perform well and score goals. Perhaps United's performance will be more stable if the injured players in the squad return to the squad. But now they are far behind. I don't think it's possible for Manchester United to get back into the top four of the table.

But Rashford looks even worse now so it's hard to judge. United will certainly rise from 10th place, but when we talk about long-term expectations from United, this is not at all the task that is set for the club every year. It sounds funny now but United must fight for the title. Everything else is failure. And this season United will only fight to get into the European League; they are cosmically far from even the top 4 in terms of quality of play.
