The likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid no longer possess the financial prowess to dominate the global football landscape. It appears that their financial strength is currently overshadowed by the resources of nearly five Premier League teams, although there are doubts about the sources of revenue in the league. The unwarranted bloated size of their squads cannot be rationalized and additionally hinders the effective management of proven players.
I agree that financial strength has been an important factor in building a squad, but it may not necessarily make you successful. La Liga clubs including Real Madrid and Barcelona have dominated Europe before, but from last season onwards, we all doubt they still do so as the Premier League and Serie A teams appear to be improving.
The quality of Real Madrid and Barcelona is still good enough to expect competition, but I doubt either of them can achieve success in Europe this season. La Liga this season is competitive because Real Madrid is starting to get its focus again, meanwhile we all know that Barcelona will also do whatever it takes to defend its title this season. Barcelona are unbeaten so far in La Liga, but they are behind Real Madrid by 1 point.
