Granada started the match well, they played like a team that was trying to put pressure on their opponent who wanted to undermine their dominance. Granada counter-attack scheme was quite effective compared to ball control so they were able to control the game. Granada players were able to take advantage of the space in Barcelona defense, they managed to break into Barcelona goal twice in the first half.
The draw that Barcelona achieved at home to Granada was not due to injuries to many of their mainstay players, but was the result of a lack of discipline at the back in blocking attacks from Granada players. Barcelona had to settle for sharing points with Granada, losing two points meant they failed to return to second place.
Granada game in this match implemented a fairly good strategy where they only relied on counter-attack strategies and played relatively defensively. However, every attack they made was quite good, especially since they were able to suppress Barcelona from the first half. I think we often say that the teams at the bottom of the standings are the weakest teams but sometimes that doesn't match the facts because they can balance their game and do some extraordinary things on the pitch.
Barcelona did have many opportunities to score goals, but because Granada's defense was tight, their chances were thwarted by Granada's defenders. With the unsatisfactory results from this match, of course, Barcelona failed to stick closely to Real Madrid in the standings so that the distance between the two of them is now 3 points adrift of Real Madrid.
