Just in the month of August, a total of 232,000 migrants crossed the border without any sort of paperwork. Rolando Salinos (mayor of Eagle Pass) was forced to declare state of emergency. Border agents can't just deal with the huge numbers who are crossing the border and it is quite possible that some may be slipping through without any background/biometry check. And from the pictures, I can see that >95% of the migrants are military age men, with very few women or children among them.
A country should be able to control their borders and select who they want to come in or out of it.
These reports you mentioned basically show that the US is not capable to keep their borders in check.
They are capable of doing it, but for some reason there is a large of political and ethical friction on the issue, it is something which both Trump and Biden had tried to take advantage of in their respective campaigns.
With all this influx of people, it will be just matter of time before Trump starts to heavily leverage of the Immigration topic again and there will be nothing democrats will be able to do about it. For now, Trump is mostly distracted with his lawsuits and indictments, but as 2024 gets closer, this will turn into a topic Democrats won't have much ammo to counter anymore.
