In terms of changing your lifestyle by chance it can happen as there are lucky gamblers who manage to win a lottery and change everything with that huge amount of money, but that's really small percentage and most of those gamblers who have that same hope losses a lot of money, instead of gaining financial freedom, without a good self-control they fall into addiction and emptied their savings.
You need to have good money management if you don't want to suffer in any major issues after participating in gambling. Make sure that you still have that dominance over yourself.
Quit of the gambling was not the easy one, because the addiction to the gambling will not come.So if the gambler get into the addiction because of the big win or big loss. The gambling addiction had their own reason. So the gambler won’t get away from the gambling until he achieve the big win,if he get gambling addiction because of the big loss in the previous games. The gambler can reduce the addiction to the gambling by reducing the number of games per day. Then he can reduce the number of game per week and then reduce number of games per month to get away from the gambling addition.

If someone gambles regularly, it is much more difficult for him to quit. It is normal to become addicted to gambling regularly. Without gambling it is difficult but not impossible. The technique you mentioned is quite effective. Gradually wean yourself away from gambling. And it is time consuming. At the same time I would say if someone is addicted, first of all he has to realize that he is addicted. Because we don't easily understand when we are addicted to something. And it takes us a long time to realize that we are addicted to it. After that he has to think about the future of his family. I think you can save yourself a lot from gambling addiction if you think about your family.
