What is surprising about Girona is that they did so after only their second season since being promoted to La Liga last season. Girona lost 15 of 38 matches last season, the rest they won 13 matches and drew 10 times. Of course this is something special about them, but people still have doubts about their ability to maintain their performance.
So far Girona has achieved 7 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat and that is truly extraordinary. I'm sure they will decline as time goes by when other strong teams start to get their best performance. Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Barcelona and several other teams of course still have a greater chance of winning against Girona, so I'm not sure Girona will compete closely in the top 4.
I think it is quite obvious that not that many people think of it that way, because Girona just "got lucky" so far and the yare not going to keep it going. I am one of those people, don't get me wrong they will finish better than last season there is no doubt about that, they are doing so great so far that it is nearly impossible for them to get worse than last season, they will do fine.
However, I believe that after this run is over, the yare going to drop back to last seasons averages, however adding a better start would mean they will finish better. We will see how their last 20 games will be, I bet that their last 20 games points averages will not be all that different from last seasons last 20 game averages, that should be the key point.
After all, so far Girona not yet played against Barcelona and Girona not yet played against Atletico. But yes, Girona already played against Real Madrid, and the result was a loss for Girona. However, even though Girona is unlikely to stay in the top four, but with a good start like this, of course Girona will also have a good chance of finishing in a better position than the previous season. However, I think we also can't underestimate Girona to possibly finish in fourth place because after all, La Liga is about Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico. So, if Girona manages to maintain a good performance like this throughout this season, then of course it is still possible for Girona to fill fourth position below the three top La Liga teams that I mentioned.
