Luka Modrić is still very useful. Him still being in Real Madrid is the prime example of it. Real Madrid lets players go whenever they start dropping in terms of performance. However Real Madrid never let him go even though he is really old at this point. He is 38 years old, and he is still in Real Madrid because he is still playing well.

You know Real Madrid even let Sergio Ramos go because he was not in his prime anymore, but they did not let go of Modrić because they know how valuable he is.  And another reason why Real Madrid has not let him go is because they have really not found any good substitute for him, they will have to find a replacement soon to be honest.
It is certain that Luka Modric will not be in the Real Madrid squad for long, the development of younger midfielders makes Luka Modric position even more threatened. Bellingham increasing performance has made him one of the irreplaceable midfielders in Real Madrid main squad.
Federico Valverde, Tchouameni and Camavinga also always perform well when given their trust, Ancelotti only rotates them in several matches by including Toni Kroos or Luka Modric. Modric presence is increasingly marginalized in the Real Madrid squad, now he mostly sits on the bench rather than being trusted to play from the first minute.

Modric's position is already under threat. But that is a normal thing. Considering that he is no longer young. Currently Modric has one more year on his contract until 30 June 2024. And I doubt that next year Real Madrid will again extend his contract at the club. But I still remember that in the transfer market yesterday Modric rejected an offer from an Arab club. And he still chooses to play at Real Madrid with his contract extension only until next year. And in a report it was reported that Modric wanted to retire at Real Madrid. So is it possible that if his contract is not extended next season then he will retire? But my guess is that he will be approached again by an Arab club and if it is a high offer then maybe he will follow C.Ronaldo to an Arab club. But if Real Madrid extends his contract again then of course Modric will definitely continue to stay at Real Madrid. But I'm not sure that will happen.
