The question that arises when they do that is how long will they do it? The risk will always be there, and even though they alwasy make a profit every season from the sales they make, the question is whether they will always be in a state where they will always be able to benefit from the star players they create? I have no doubt that they are the club with the most genius in spotting young talent. But risks must also be taken, because they also need titles as a club. They have the ability to do that, it's just a matter of how they intend to do it.
Maybe they're comfortable in gaining financially from their player sales than winning trophies, cause if the trophies were important to them, then I don't see why they'll decide to sell players that are capable of winning titles for them, if you noticed their performance last season when they had Jude Bellingham in the team is not the same this season, they almost won the Bundesliga when he was present in the team, and he's now performing well at Madrid, I believe if he was still with them they would had been doing better.
What I feel is that it's become a tradition for them and it may continue for a long time, they'll still try as much as possible to qualify for the Champions League and sell some youngsters that are currently in the team, maybe Karim Adeyemi might be the next Youngster to be sold by Dortmund, but where it could start affecting them is when they fail to find a better replacement for the players they're selling.
In situations like this, comfort will actually backfire on them, yes as a club they should be able to get out of the comfort zone they occupy. I have repeatedly said I personally have no problem if they do business, because in football business can no longer be separated, many clubs are financially constrained because they are not good at business.
They have shown their business skills, and I think we all agree on that. But what we haven't seen from them now is how they start for something bigger, in this case achievement.
As long as the club is still comfortable with what it does each season and as long as many fans are quite happy with their current condition even though there are also many who demand that they do more then I think things like this will continue.
The conditions that Dortmund are doing are not just from one or two seasons but this kind of strategy has started when they were in the previous decade where Lewandowski was the opening for them to sell star players even to their own rival clubs.
So things like this will be difficult to change even if in the end there are several opportunities they want to take risks but when it is not in line with what is expected and actually makes them lose I think they will still return to their comfort zone by selling their star players for the club's financial benefits.
One thing I really like about them is that their supporters are very loyal to the club, even when Borussia Dortmund hasn't been able to give them what they expected, they are still loyal. I mean, usually when supporters demand something, they will protest to demand it, but I haven't seen that from their supporters.
Actually, they just need to raise their level just one notch from what they are showing now, then they will be able to achieve something that a club wants.
