I would say it was an accident. No one expected the Netherlands to win. South Africa's erratic bowling was one of the reasons for their defeat. I was very disappointed with South Africa's bowling. After losing 4 wickets for 50 runs, Netherlands set a huge target of 246 in 43 overs. South Africa gave 32 extra runs in this match. They have scored 21 wide balls. 32 runs extra in 43 overs is too much. Even if the target was around 200, maybe South Africa would have won.
Afghanistan players are now very confident after the win against England. There is no doubt that New Zealand is a strong team. But since the pitch is spin friendly I would say Afghanistan team cannot be considered weak in this match. They have several excellent spin bowlers. There will be no surprise if New Zealand loses.
It hardly looks like an accident this time. South Africa might be complacent in the last T-20 WC but that wasn't the case last night. They were talking about it "taking no chances" before the match.
At one point Dutch were 82/5, but still, they managed to set a respectable target and not to forget these guys also added 100 runs in the last 8 overs. I wish for more such results so that teams like Afghanistan and Netherlands become the kingmakers.
