One thing I've found out about Harry Maguire is that whenever he's playing for the England national team, he's always marshaling out his defense skills to the best of his ability but finds it very difficult to replicate same whenever he's playing for Manchester United. This is the reason why I'm of the opinion that his poor defense mechanism whenever he's playing for Manchester United is caused by the manager Erik Ten Hag's kind of man-management.
If Maguire can be that good for England national team, he can also be better for United if only the manager can find the best way to manage the England international.
If that's true, I think Ten Hag needs to consult with Gareth Southgate regarding the best position and role that can be given to Harry Maguire, so that the former Captain United can unleash all the potential he has. At least in this way, Ten Hag has additional options in the defense sector, if Maguire can be played regularly again. It could be that at United Maguire lacked respect from his teammates, and in the end his self-confidence was not good which ultimately had an impact on his performance.
In fact, I hope Ten Hag can change the way he approaches players a little, so that it doesn't seem so rigid. It's not without reason that I say that, we have seen his conflict with Jadon Sancho which has not improved until now. As a leader at the club, Ten Hag should really understand how to treat young players, most of whom have tough characters.
Harry Maguire has worked with three coach four five seasons or less how many has he contributed firmly and won the best players of the year for Man United with his defending skills. You can not count a season he did that and you say Man United coach should work with Southgate over a poor defender. It will not happen.
He is not a good defender not even a good leader. He should have never signed for Man United. Rio Ferdinard will return from retirement and still do better than Harry Maguire.
Ten Hag and Sancho have stubborn personalities. Since Ten Hag remains the head of United who he wants to leave will leave.
