I don't think Harry Maguire would have been called up to the England national team if he was overrated. That's why it might be a bit harsh to say it's exaggerated. He definitely has talent and it wouldn't be right to claim otherwise. However, he is very error-prone and this causes big problems in the teams he plays for.

It's really a big joke if someone think Maguire is playing because of his big name, he should become a brand ambassador if he's a bad player. People always forget 1000 good deeds for one fault, so that's why vast majority think Maguire is a bad player.

Maguire is a good player, he good in build up since he has a good long ball pass accuracy and clearance.

Harry Maguire performance could be said to be not very reliable in defense, he made several defensive errors, but at different times he was able to do crucial things for Manchester United. He is very good in terms of ball control, although his performance is not very impressive, but in terms of holding the ball Maguire is very good. Even though his performance is mediocre, his presence still really helps Manchester United in terms of defense and attack.
Maybe it was for this reason that England coach Gareth Southgate entrusted Harry Maguire with a position when England beat Italy with a final score of 3-1 for England to win.

Harry Maguire had a great night at one point, making it difficult for opposition strikers to sneak past his eyes but has proved a poor defender over the last two seasons. In all the matches he has played in the last two seasons, he has not been able to defend well, he has not created good chances, he has not been able to give good tackles, meaning he has failed everywhere. A defender's job is not only to control the ball but also to block opposition strikers as well as to allow midfielders or strikers to score goals. Harry Maguire was the captain of Manchester United but was dropped as captain due to his poor performances and is now an irregular player for Manchester United.

One thing I've found out about Harry Maguire is that whenever he's playing for the England national team, he's always marshaling out his defense skills to the best of his ability but finds it very difficult to replicate same whenever he's playing for Manchester United. This is the reason why I'm of the opinion that his poor defense mechanism whenever he's playing for Manchester United is caused by the manager Erik Ten Hag's kind of man-management.
If Maguire can be that good for England national team, he can also be better for United if only the manager can find the best way to manage the England international.

Playing skill depends on himself, a manager can only guide a player but the player has to perform on the field. Erik Ten Hag Harry Maguire is asked to perform in whatever direction he is directed, maybe using a different strategy but if he adopts a different strategy he will have to perform differently but this is not the case. Harry Maguire has performed well enough for England national team and was one of the best defenders in the last match against Italy so why can't this best defender do well for Manchester United. We can imagine that Manchester United can't use him properly but if Manchester United can't use him properly then his every match would not be bad but since last two seasons he has been continuously doing bad every match. If he can't do well at Manchester United then he should leave United and choose a club where he can do well.
