There have been reports of a number of casinos cheating. Even though there was no way to verify these reports, there is still the possibility of them being true in some cases.
You are right that casinos can easily cheat by giving them more advantage by implement 5% or 10% house edge and claim that their house edge is standard that is 1% house edge. In most cases, we cannot verify the house edge of the casino until one play at the casino and feel that they lose more than they win.
From the side of the players, I still do not understand how it will be possible to cheat the casinos, unless through hacking which is rare.
From players point of view, some may apply certain strategies like Martingale that is to double your bet on a loss and reduce your bet back to original once you win. These type of strategies may not fall into cheating category but casino may treat them as cheating.
By the way, i don't find any strategies in gambling, where a gambler can only win and never lose.
