Speculation is this is to hide traces of his past plagiarism, but I can't know his reasons for sure.
Ok, I have to say that whatever unpleasant opinion I had about Ratimov I was still way way too kind to him. I thought that after he got caught plagiarising he would surely have learned something, like maybe to including links. Well, he surely learned how to not get caught: (a) plagiarise images; (b) from behind paywalls. Considering that mods probably won't be enforcing plagiarism rules on an image, and/or not going out of their way to look behind paywalls - brilliant strategy.
