I don't really no what is wrong with Chelsea, there performance is getting worst by the day, today's match against Brentford I was thinking Chelsea will win the match but they end up losing the game.
Chelsea tactics is not working at all, so just like you said Brentford strategy was just a defensive play with the target of either to win or draw and the pattern actually worked for them.
I don't actually no the match Chelsea will be able to win because even the Brentford that won them are not even much on a good form this season because they have played 8 matches this September till now and they have only won 3 of there matches, lose 4 matches and draw 2 match which in overall performance is very poor, perhaps considering all this fact Chelsea was suppose to win the match today.
