I'll take it a step further and say bitcoin was made to be spent. When you spend your bitcoin, you are fulfilling its destiny. Purpose is brought to its existence.
Of course, it could very well be worth more later, but if there wasn't people out there using BTC for what it was made to do, it wouldn't have any value at all.
