2023/24 La Liga season has been quite an entertainment so far. Girona is leading the league race for this season up until now. but, will Girona end the year on top? After 13 matches, Girona is 2 points ahead at the top, with Real Madrid and Barcelona close behind. Barcelona, aiming to defend their title, unfortunately hasn't had the best performances this season. while, Atletico and Real Madrid, their closest challengers, have been pretty convincing so far. Girona is having their best season yet, but some tough games are coming up for this season dark horse. Can they go all the way against the big boys? Exciting times ahead in La Liga!
The fact that Girona is number one in the points table behind the likes of Real Madrid Barcelona and Atlético Madrid really surprised me a lot. Real Madrid or Barcelona are the favorites for every season and this season is no exception but the team that we never thought we would see at the top of the points table is now at the top of the points table. Girona is number one in the points table but there is not much difference between this team with Barcelona and Real Madrid so if Real Madrid and Barcelona do well in the next matches they can go to the top of the points table again. Zero will not be consistent as we have already said but till now this team is performing consistently then at what point this team will lose its consistency is a big question now.
For the time being, Girona has been celebrating their ranking in the La Liga standings like champions, which makes sense because they are ahead of the three favorite clubs, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, even though they are only 2 points apart. It is a great fortune to have the opportunity to lead the points table, other clubs in La Liga are very jealous of their performance and luck. However, there are still big doubts about Girona being able to win the trophy at the end of the season, because when they face the three favorite clubs they will lose points, I'm pretty sure of that.
Girona needs a miracle to continue to be consistent and create a points gap in the future, Madrid have already beaten them with a score of 3-0. This proves that they will have difficulty facing elite La Liga clubs, but it also does not rule out the possibility that Girona could become like the Leicester club in the EPL which won the trophy in the 2015-2016 season.
Yes I also think that Girona will surely drop points when they perform against teams like Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. When Girona lose points in these three matches, they will be slightly lower in the points table as Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid in those matches will gain full points and move up. But if Girona don't drop points against Barcelona and Real Madrid, they will undoubtedly be fighting for the La Liga title with Real Madrid and Barcelona at the end of the season. Since they have been doing well since the start and they have maintained their consistency, they can be relied on not to give up points so easily against Barcelona and Real Madrid. It would be a surprise if any team outside of Real Madrid and Barcelona win the La Liga title.
