When you're talking about the history concerning the Liverpool vs Manchester City fixture, it's very obvious that Liverpool has a better record against City because of how big of a club they've been over the last 50 years.
But since Pep Guardiola took over the managerial position at Manchester City, they've been the overall best team in the English Premier League. Their game this weekend is a crucial one because of the fact that it's gonna serve as a decider for who will continue to be at the top of the English Premier League table. City and Liverpool are currently in form and I expect any of them to win the game but one thing I think is sure is that both teams are definitely gonna score in the game
The history is true and I would never argue that Liverpool are still the best because of their record. But of course, when I have to narrow down the time frame then Manchester City have been better than Liverpool. In the last 3 seasons, Manchester City has only lost 1 time in 6 meetings with Liverpool, especially in the Premier League. Manchester City won 2 matches, while the other 3 matches ended in a draw. Last season was spectacular considering that Manchester City were able to punish Liverpool 4-1 at the Etihad despite losing 1-0 at Anfield.
I don't see much difference in Manchester City's home win chances this season compared to last season. Manchester City is the favorite who is most likely to win the match, but Liverpool is a team that never stays still against Manchester City. If in La Liga there is El Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid, then in the English League there is Manchester City against Liverpool. Other derby matches are no less exciting, but every time Liverpool plays Manchester City there are many eyes focused on the match.
