Girona may be this one team that is in for a surprise this season. Winning the title is tough of course, needless to say if they are competing with Real Madrid, Barcelona and maybe Atletico Madrid, but Girona is on top of things at the moment. Their winning streak is remarkable, they have now two home games coming up, which is the perfect preparation for their game away against Barcelona.
I would go so far as to say if they can win both of their next two home games and then win the game against Barcelona in Barcelona, I believe that they are a potential title winner. Yes it is still a long way to go, but if they get a perfect 9 points out of 9 in the next three games, Girona has the potential.
It seems to me that it is too early to say that Girona can win La Liga, precisely because their rivals are Real Madrid and Barcelona. These teams have much greater capabilities, a deeper bench and much greater financial resources. I know that we all remember the example of Leicester in the Premier League, when everyone followed them, but it seems to me that this happens very rarely and if Girona cannot find proper funding and strengthen the team in the transfer window, then this goal will be difficult to achieve for them.
It is understandable that there are many doubts in Girona that they will be able to maintain the same performance until the end of the season to win the Laliga title because this is their second season in Laliga after previously being relegated and only playing in the Segunda Division, so their capacity is not as good as Real Madrid, Barcelona or even Atletico Madrid has always been a strong team in this competition, and we have to wait until the end of the season or at least when they have more points and are difficult for any team to catch then those doubts will disappear.
If Girona succeeds in winning then this will be a surprise for the Laliga competition, but unfortunately usually teams other than the usual Laliga champions can only win once and after that they appear quite disappointing and that is due to financial factors, and clubs that have strong finances will be able to maintain the team's performance every season well.
