Do you ever feel like that being after saving or investing for future you forget to live in the present? You don't buy the things you want to or don't go after experiences you want because you'd rather save/invest for future instead.
That's not forgetting how to live your present, that's called sacrificing what you can have today to build a better future. Forgetting how to live in the present means you might be recklessly spending because of the future looks uncertain. Being on focus presently and understanding that sacrifices being made is much better description of how saving and investing feels like.
I have been saving my whole life as much as I can and also set aside some funds for small investments, but I did not forget how to live in the present, but I've certainly made sacrifices to obtain all what I have so far. That being said, I think there's a difference between forgetting and sacrificing.
