In essence, it involves combining multiple transactions into a single transaction, making it challenging to trace the original source of the funds. Advocates argue that enhancing privacy is crucial for maintaining the decentralized and pseudonymous nature of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, and that mixing services contribute to this objective without necessarily facilitating illegal activities. It is important to distinguish between legitimate privacy-enhancing practices and illicit financial activities when discussing the complexities of cryptocurrency transactions.
Its gonna be hard to segregate that but lets say people used mixers to masked their identity but this particular reason also advantage to scammers and hackers since this feature allow them to hide from everyone in case their steal millions of funds. For me its not good, even the first one has legitimate reason, how would a mixer identify those who are from fraud.
