Most forums and many websites (like gmail) are able to save your post in a cookie as you type.  If you navigate away by mistake, the post will be waiting for you if you go right back.

Does the billion dollar forum have that feature?  I got so used to it I forgot this forum is so old... :/

Something like this is allowed on the forum as well, but you will have to preview it first before it can be archived under draft, but without having this done under preview, you may not be able to see your typed contents any chance you loose being on the same page, it has happened to me several times that i loose some of my post contents immediately am typing and a call comes in on my mobile device or i have to navigate through while am typing.
What's why I always type on my notepad first  Grin. Accidental backs are the worst. Luckily the forum have a draft function that saves everything when previewing. But I didn't found it that much of useful. If I remember correctly, there was one time, I was writting a massive post, suddenly a accidental back and everything was gone. I did tried to find it through draft. But it wasn't where the accident happened. Instead it way way before that. That's why I prefer note apps or online notepads.
