I don't ignore Victor Boniface and Jonas Hofmann because basically they play as attackers and that is clearly different from the positions held by Alejandro Grimaldo and Jeremie Frimpong who play as fullbacks. That is their job if they are attackers, but for fullbacks the role of scoring goals is a condition that we rarely encounter.
However, the performance of all these players cannot be separated from the direction of Xabi Alonso who succeeded in uniting this team with more chemistry and it feels like Xabi Alonso's genius is indeed above average and it's just a matter of how he will prove with Leverkusen to win various existing titles.
Oh, I thought we were talking about their performance, for sure Alejandro Grimaldo and Jeremie Frimpong have their respective position and they are great in the task that has been given to them for Xavi Alonso meticulously look at each player's strengths and weaknesses to be given the role and Xavi Alonso was great in that kind of aspect and as a experienced player aswell he knows what he will do and what he is doing,
But regarding Victor Boniface and Jonas Hofmann, I am talking about their performance and not their position just saying this to clear it up and to tell you that you have a point and I agree with it all,
Not expecting too much to be honest from Union Berlin. The coach has just come on and it is not going to be instant improvement in my opinion. After all a coach has to understand how to approach with a club. I think it is going to be dumb if we expect instant results from the new coach who has just come on two days before.
I was quite happy with Urs Fischer's performance in the last few seasons they competed but this season the Union is completely destroyed and Urs Fischer cannot be used as a reference to bring the Union to good results this season.
Replacing Nenad Bjelica I still find it hard to see how Union will fare but regardless Nenad Bjelica will have to try more to get Union out of the relegation zone now because honestly this doesn't really suit Union who have always been in good situations in the Bundesliga. Hopefully what happened with Leverkusen and Xabi before can happen for Union and Nenad Bjelica this season.
The sad truth about Union Berlin is after that last season's blowout performance they thought that they could make it this season sadly they were just good last season Union Berlin started in the Bundesliga 2019-2020, and they ended in the standings in the 11th position, 2020-2021 the Union Berlin landed on the 7th position, in the 2021-2022 Union Berlin get it done again in the 5th position, and in 2022-2023 the Union Berlin got so high in the 4th position, for sure you are thinking that the Union Berlin might get it done in this season, but they are now the worst team there is in the Bundesliga but for sure maybe replacing Nenad Bjelica was not the right choice, and now they ended crashing down and for sure after 4 seasons in the Bundesliga they are now getting relegated back in the 2nd division,
