You are right, apart from winning the match, Manchester United must hope for Copenhagen and Galatasaray to draw. If that happens, then Manchester United will qualify for the round of 16. The problem is that this is the toughest scenario for Manchester United because all teams have their own missions. In fact I believe Galatasaray could possibly win the match against Copenhagen rather than loss or draw.
It is difficult to predict such a match because one of the 3 teams still has hope of qualifying. Maybe it would be a good thing for Manchester United to win the match regardless of the result of the Copenhagen vs Galatasaray match, at least it could open up good hopes for them.
