Bangladesh quickly took the remaining New Zealand wickets quickly today and wrapped up the match in the first session of today's play. They won by 150 runs and it is indeed a big and important win for them.
Taijul Islam took 6 wickets in the 2nd innings making him the player of the match.
It was a disappointing performance from the New Zealand team. They need to improve on their batting and they do not have much time as the 2nd and the final test will start on December 06 at Mirpur.
It's fantastic news to hear that Bangladesh secured a significant victory today, swiftly taking the remaining New Zealand wickets and clinching the match in the first session. Winning by 150 runs is an impressive feat, marking an important milestone for the Bangladesh team.
All done. New Zealand dismantled by Taijul Islam (6 wickets for 75 runs). Only Daryl Mitchell could put up any sort of resistance in the 4th innings, although Ish Sodhi and Tim Southee added a few runs towards the end. Next match will start on 6th December and will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur (another ground that offers a lot of support for the spinners). New Zealand need to make necessary changes in team selection. Sodhi and Ajaz Patel are not doing their job and I will be surprised if they are included in the playing XI again.
It's certainly a tough loss for New Zealand, and Taijul Islam's impressive performance with 6 wickets for 75 runs undoubtedly played a significant role in dismantling the team.
