Football is different with high spirits, we watch games were the elite clubs get thrashed by mediocre and these events happens on daily basis. I've prepared my mind to accept defeats from any club. Manchester United was overhyped this season in their first UCL game against Bayern Munich but it turn out they couldn't maintain such level of performance against Copenhagen and Galatasaray this season. Erik Ten Hag have to make plans if he still wants to qualify for the Europa spot this season, that's the only thing they could settle for since they won't be making out to the next phase this season.
Not really, because I can't see why someone would describe Manchester United as an elite club. People tend to think about clubs as an elite club because they have done amazing things in the past, but why should Galatasaray or Copenhagen care about what Manchester United has done 20 years ago? Both these teams have been fearless and Manchester United has been innocuous for a while now. If anything, Manchester United should end this group in 4th place and neither play the EL nor the CL after the end of the year.
Sometimes Man United fans want to defend themselves in a subtle way and continue to maintain the "elite" nickname for a club that is currently in limbo this season. But for me personally it doesn't mean anything because what I see in the day are the results. No matter how elite a club is, if it is unable to show positive results on the field it still has no effect. Man United no longer has the elite composition of players it used to, so it's better to just get rid of the elite nickname for a while. Man United if it is an elite club why is the transfer market so stingy with budgets?
His fate in the Champions League is only 5% depending on Galasaray and Copenhagen who play this result. And for the daunting task of conquering Bayern Munich the odds on paper and on the pitch are simply impossible. It's better to slump and start admitting that the quality of your opponent's game is superior.
