If you are onto gambling for the first time it's not possible to get addicted to gambling because you haven't tasted what winning feels like, you will be consumed by doubts and uncertainty.

But @ OP, a gambler can still win at a first time of gambling so does it mean at this moment one is licenced or triggered to addiction? Of course not. Addiction is a just habit.

I think addiction starts after you win, even if it's just once, that's when you start gambling recklessly and you also start betting higher.

Actually, most gambling sites do give profits at the initial bets of a gambler. I've seen that quite a few times. Rested my bet for a week or more and then when I got back I was on a winning spree. But gambling sites do know that we won't stop. We will keep on gambling that winning amount because of the thought that we have something to spare and we don't really care much about those profits unless our capital is moved.
It happened to me a lot of times but I still cannot take advantage of those chances. Why? Simply because of my greed I want more than what they give. Sometimes, they do give prizes like x50 or more on your first try but they will get it back with or without our knowledge. There's no safety in gambling, especially the online gambling sites, they will keep on taking unless we are too lucky that we can withdraw if the chance comes in.
