Bukele lashed out at the critics of the country’s Bitcoin strategy, demanding apologies from them. He stated that the responsible thing for naysayers to do would be to “issue retractions, offer apologies, or, at the very least, acknowledge that El Salvador is now yielding a profit.” However, he maintained his position on the future of Bitcoin and the plan of building its country on the back of the cryptocurrency, stating,
“Of course, we have no intention of selling; that has never been our objective. We are fully aware that the price will continue to fluctuate in the future, this doesn’t affect our long-term strategy.
It is common for political opposition to criticize the policy of the current leaders especially when these economic decisions are strange. Making Bitcoin a legal tender was an uncommon economic policy and stacking the coins for El Salvador was just insane to some people. When the price began to drop the opposition had so many reasons to attack Nayid Bukele. They even organised rallies and protests to show displeasure over this policy. Many news outlets came with diverse reports of how investing in Bitcoin will devastate the economy of El Salvador. But I don't blame these forces because they were blinded by ignorance.
I think the President of El Salvador deserves an apology for the attacks he suffered from within and outside of critics. And the most striking quality of this BBitcoin believer is that he has a long-term plan for the investment. He is so committed to Bitcoin investment that he might not sell them anytime soon. I also think he deserves an apology from some members of the forum who saw his decision as needless. Some even suggested that he should have invested in his country's infrastructure rather than buying Bitcoin. But today with the profit the country has made, many facilitates could be built if he wants to sell.
