When someone to be lonely he will fell very much comfortable with gambling. I personally prefer a secluded place when gambling because gambling in those places gives me the opportunity to gamble as I wish. And since gambling can be done according to my wish in that state, there is a high chance of becoming addicted. If I comment from my point of view then of course being alone increases the chances of gambling addiction but not all cases are the same. Many people can gamble in any situation keeping them under control and those who are addicted even if they gamble in the crowd they become addicted there. It totally depends on yourself. To control this addiction one must avoid excessive gambling and the desire to get more money from gambling.
Indeed. It still depends on the gambler itself because being lonely or alone are just few reasons for a person to play when they're looking for something to do. Gambling is an option to entertain ourselves or to kill time but it doesn't mean we're prone to become addicted because it still depends on how you gamble.
Even those who gamble often can't automatically classified as addicted. Because if you can still limit yourself regardless of how often you play then that means you are still in control. Those gamblers who became addicted after playing (regardless of their reason for doing so) don't have discipline. Because let's say you're just lonely that's why you play, it's not a reason to justify your action since it's your choice to not play in moderation.
