Unfortunately for Leverkusen, they can widen the gap with Bayern. They dropped points when they were held to a draw by Dortmund. Bayern will be determined to regain the top spot, but even if that happens, they will still be level on points in the rankings. Leverkusen are not allowed to make any mistakes again because Bayern is in relatively good form compared to the beginning of the season. Leverkusen is hoping this season can overthrow the Bayern empire that has always dominated this tournament. They need to try to make this arena more interesting. That's something Dortmund failed to do last season.
Their busy schedule makes Leverkusen have to be smart in player rotation and even though they cannot increase the distance with Bayern but this one point is still very useful for them and still very good especially the opponent they face is Dortmund.
Now if you look at some of the schedules they have where they have to play in the Europa League, Bundesliga and DFB with a fairly close vulnerability makes this a little complicated for Leverkusen themselves and I think it would be better if they don't force this too much because this could get worse. Leverkusen must give up at least one competition so that they can be consistent in the other 2 competitions because with the current situation, it could interfere with the performance when the schedule is tight and overworks the players.
