De gea must become the best options for all of them but in fact that if everything totally depends on the various things. It seems like Newcastle likes to buy goalkeepers who have been sorted out at other clubs. In the case of De Gea, I don't know. But Newcastle has Loris Karius sitting on the bench as well who has not made a single game thus far if I am not mistaken. Is Newcastle looking for a new number 1 goalkeeper? I missed those news then, I only noticed that De Gea is still without a club and could be signed any time I suppose. They have all these old goalkeepers. For the long term they should try to find a great talent that will take the goalkeeper position for a long time. It is one of those positions where consistency is key more than anywhere else.
I think injury to Nick Pope has made them look after a very strong goalkeeper. Nick Pope have been exceptional for the Magpies and injury of Pope has made a huge dent in their squad. I think someone like Karius can be considered as a temporary change or in case of short term injury but I don't think it's a great choice for long run. Buying another goalkeeper will also be a waste as when Pope will return it will be hard to deal with excess goalkeepers then. I think best option is to see if there are some good goalkeeper in other team sitting on the bench and sign them for a short term or on loan.
