I didn't expect Aston Villa to perform so well this season. The previous season they were only ranked 7th in the standings. I think this result shows that in the first half of the season Aston Villa was able to appear consistently in every match. I think the final wake up game that Aston Villa played was the one against Manchester City. I thought I could not trust my eyes when I had a look at the game statistics. After that game I thought that this team is not going to have weak performances out of a sudden and lose several games in a row. The game between Villa and City was really much anticipated to see City being the victor but a whole lot of people turned numb when Villa netted in the first and only goal almost at the injury time of the game. Twas then that it was realized that Villa had never lost a home game for a number of weeks and City didn't even have the power to break the jinx, for City and most football fans, it was a bad night because the hopes were high and the expectations were clear. City on normal grounds are a better side to Villa but things took turn.
