Why don't you use Metamask extension on your phone with extension supported browser? I have been using it since long, and it works for all needs. You won't need walletconnect, since every dapp supports Metamask, you'll be able to connect normally.

But I'm scared by it, because plugins can steal sensitive datas like passwords and display misleading informations like fake recipient/deposit addresses for example. And even if a plugin is safe, it can be hacked one day. So I prefer to use a smartphone app for connecting Web3 dApps and for validating transactions.
