The latest on the Sancho-Raphinha swap deal between Manchester United and Barcelona brings some complications. It seems Manchester United won't be able to swap Jadon Sancho directly for Raphinha with Barcelona. Barcelona is adamant about selling Raphinha but isn't interested in including Sancho in the deal. According to Sky Sports, Barcelona has set a price tag of $100 million (~£79 million) for Raphinha.
This suggests that, for the negotiations to proceed, Manchester United might have to offer a cash sum in addition to including Sancho in the deal. This adds a layer of complexity to the potential agreement, making it less straightforward for both clubs in the January 2024 transfer window.
Of course, Barcelona does not consider Jadon Sancho to be a valuable player so they want to accept him, and getting cash will be the main choice for Barcelona because they can use the money to buy other players who they are already targeting to strengthen their squad, especially strikers because Barcelona needs a new striker to start replacing Robert Lewandowski there.
Almost 80 million euros for Raphinha is too high in my opinion and the value is not that high, but because Manchester United are always ready to buy the player they want for any high value it is very possible that a deal will be reached even if they have to exclude Sancho in the deal, because we see how United bought players at high prices such as Rasmus Højlund, Mason Mount and Onana whose contributions so far are still below their price when United bought them.
