So Chelsea have successfully manage to squeeze out a win from their cup tie against Newcastle. It was quite a game though but at first didn't expect Chelsea to actually qualify at the hands of Newcastle united but it seems Newcastle united are still struggling although they they had a comfortable win against Fulham during their weekend clash but this night was not good for them as Chelsea manage to equalized their first half lead and win the game on penalties.
Sometimes Newcastle can disappoint, they play the entire game winning, but they are unable to defend their home field in the 90+ minutes of play when Newcastle scores. I thought Chelsea the match was over for Chelsea, but that is not how the match will end, in a game where you don't expect Newcastle to score many goals, they will score two or three goals. They should have taken advantage of their opportunities to score more goals. After Newcastle defeated Fulham in the weekend game, I didn't think Chelsea would be difficult to Newcastle in the EFL Cup, so can we say that Chelsea is back to their high level of play now that they defeated Newcastle and qualify to the next round.
Chelsea was extremely lucky that they were able to score in the injury time. And that led the match to penalties and that was a genuine chance for them. And they absolutely took advantage of that. By the way, it was the quarter-final of the EFL match. So yes it is important for Chelsea. But I think it is more important for Chelsea to concentrate on the English Premier League as well. Chelsea did win the last English Premier League match that they have played. But that was against the team which is absolutely at the bottom of the table. Right now Chelsea is in the 10th position and a lot better performances are expected from them.
