I'm a bit confused about what this statement means:

How can someone change our choice of coin if an exchange has been requested? I thought being public or private only hides the tipping process, but any exchange is done in the background. Is this related to how Stake tipping works?

Hi, it works by user tipping to bot first, and then entering their username, tipped amount and currency, and the target currency. If you tip publicly on chat, everyone will be able to see your username, tipped amount and currency. This is a rare case but just wanted to make let users know that!
Also, exchanged funds are always sent back to the same user, obviously
