Difficult for Darmstadt as promotion team in Bundesliga for first season in highest level competition, 16 matches with 2 won, 4 draw and 10 losses is poor achievement make dropped to relegation position standings. Face difficult for three matches later against Dortmund, Frankfurt and Union Berlin seems difficult for Darmstadt get three points and keep away their points from regelation zone. Not only three strong teams for upcoming match, Darmstadt will face Bayern Leverkusen and likely its not easy for them how to out from relegation zone and keep existing their level on Bundesliga competition.
Promoted teams will find it much more difficult to compete with other teams in the Bundesliga because perhaps in terms of experience and the quality of their players they are quite behind the quality of other players. Darmstadt qualified for the main league with players who are not so strong so it will be quite difficult for them to compete to survive in the Bundesliga. But even so we need to see how Darmstadt can play in the second half of the season and if they can be consistent then there is some hope of getting out of the relegation zone.
I mean it is very usual for the newly promoted teams to struggle in the top flights of the game. Darmstadt has only 10 points right now and is at the bottom of the table. But so are teams like Mainz and Koln. They are also with Darmstadt at the bottom of the table with 10 points. It would take Darmstadt 2-3 wins to get out of the relegation zone and it can happen. But it doesn’t seem likely due to their struggles.
I think they will get relegated this season and then come back a few seasons later and be stable in the Bundesliga.
