West Ham United and Brighton shared a point as the match ended in a goalless draw. Brighton performed better and had opportunities to win the game. However, they lacked clinical finishing and couldn't break through the defense of the opposing team. It seemed like they were content with a draw at home. Currently sitting in 7th place, it's a decent position for them at this stage of the season!
I think Brighton cannot be satisfied with this match. Brighton this season is no longer as stable as last season. Brighton wants to win to defeat its direct competitor for tickets to the European Cup next season. In this match, they were the team that took the initiative. They were utterly proactive throughout the game, thanks to their mobility and chemistry between the lines. Brighton tried very hard. They took 17 shots at the opponent's goal but could not get a goal. Goal-scoring opportunities were continuously created, but Brighton's strikers squandered the opportunities. It must also be said that this was a match in which goalkeeper Alphonse Areola played excellently. This goalkeeper made 8 excellent saves, frustrating the away team's strikers. His tenacity helped West Ham stand firm.
I predict a draw for this match. So far the competition between the two teams has been quite even. but seeing Brighton's dominance in that match, they had a chance to win.
West Ham didn't attack much, but they used the right strategy to reduce the aggressiveness of the Brighton players. it was quite an effort to last the entire match. and they succeeded even though they had to settle for a draw. at least the two teams shared points and West Ham managed to maintain the points difference with Brighton
Brighton looked like dominance caused by westham was playing defensively against brighton. it will be different once westham will be playing fully offensive against brighton. Zerbi's team has been showing some improvements like it can consistently defending while attack.
No doubt if people were calling brighton to play better caused by it was giving better stats since westham was rarely playing offensive. This is also the main reason westham lost its ball possessions against brighton.
Just because brighton was owning the game and it doesn't mean westham will be losing against it easily. In fact, westham knew that if its club was only able using low block strategy as most effective strategy to be used by the club.
Brighton is having different gameplay caused by it was focusing on owning the ball. This is also my main reason to call that if brighton was not that good in this match caused by westham is only defending and it's rarely attacking without getting golden chance.
Westham was not losing after it was getting draw against brighton. At least westham was not losing at home.
