Still unbelievable how Tottenham stylish slipped down from top four on the league table. Tottenham started the season very well with unbeaten streak without the impact of departed Harry Kane showing in the team. Unfortunately things started taking opposite direction after they lost to Chelsea in early November. It's new year and every club is expected to improve their squad during this January window and hopefully we might see wonders from some teams. Perhaps, they can fight hard to get a spot in top four before the season comes to an end.
Of course, Tottenham will fight for the top 4, only one point separates them from Arsenal, and only three points from Aston Villa, so nothing is lost for them yet. I assume that the main fight for 4th place will be between Tottenham and, as strange as it may sound, between Aston Villa. I still doubt that Aston Villa will be able to consistently maintain the level of play that they demonstrate, but I will be glad if I am wrong. It’s a pity to see the decline that Newcastle has experienced, they showed an excellent game at the beginning of the season, but now everything has changed dramatically.
Tottenham have the better squad that can clinch top 4 spot compare to Aston Villa having started the league with a winning and consistent performance, however since their unbeaten record was broken by Chelsea the team retrogress for a while thereafter started coming up strongly and more formidable, I don't think Aston Villa stand any chance of clinching that spot though the differences in points between the top 4 teams is very close, however with upcoming difficult league matches against strong teams definitely Aston Villa would drop some points to pave for Tottenham who is more formidable and stronger now courtesy of Ange Postecoglou their competent manager who had transform and improve the squad.
