Currently 65 dollars a day in profit. God I hope a Kawpow ASIC is never released.
okay got to get the 470s back on line. nice
I don’t know where the profit of 65 dollars from 105 old video cards comes from. And these video cards consume 15 kilowatts of electricity per hour.
https://hashrate.no/gpus/470If I mine, then with my electricity price the average profit per day will be 30-35 dollars, but this can change any day. Don’t forget the time when mining on these video cards was unprofitable.
Free electricity goes a long way when it comes to profit on graphics card mining. I assume that’s why he’s making a profit with old cards where others would be lucky to break even. Pretty amazing to inherit 100 graphics cards regardless of the reason. I’m glad to see that OP has found a way to keep them online and working.
With free electricity it is impossible to mine at a loss

But in my experience, in such cases there are other risks or the miner must pay money to another person for using this resource. If I had such a resource, I would buy more modern video cards or even ASICs in order to use these 15 Kilowatts with maximum benefit.
You've actually sort of explained how you can lose money with free electricity. Expanding your mining footprint with your own money means you now have an investment to recoup. If any of that hardware goes bad, you're losing money. If the hardware takes a lot of air conditioning to keep functioning, you've now got more equipment to invest in. If a thief comes or a fire breaks out... More losses. Don't kid yourself, there's always ways to lose money and if you're greedy, you'll find them. If I were OP I would be selling those things on eBay before they're worthless and mining with them in the meantime to take advantage of free heat if possible. That's how you don't lose money in this scenario.
