Kevin De Bruyne really impressed me with his performance on the field. Because usually after a player returns from injury he will not immediately perform well. But Kevin De Bruyne is completely different. he immediately showed that he was still the best midfielder at the club. Only by playing for 33 minutes but he was able to contribute 1 assist in that match was indeed an extraordinary achievement.
That's the class of Kevin, and not many players can maintain that level consistently. Gotta mention, the match against Huddersfield wasn't a tough one, and his playing mentality was pretty relaxed, making it a perfect game for a comeback. Mancity does okay at times without Kevin, but having him is a game-changer; he's like a perfect piece for all three smooth-running lines.
It looks like we need to see what City will do in the transfer market this time. Everyone knows that City cannot distribute the ball as well as when De Bruyne played. This is one thing that needs to be fixed. City needs a playmaker like De Bruyne because we know that De Bruyne is also old and needs to regenerate the squad. Haaland certainly won't be able to play well if he doesn't get the ball from the midfielder. Currently I think it is difficult for City to be my favorite because their performance has decreased when KDB was injured.
Pep knows it, and I reckon he's got some backup plans for Kevin in the near future. Everyone goes through highs and can't keep the peak performance forever. Mancity needs other central midfielders, at least on par with Kevin at the moment. Musiala is a plausible option that Pep's been eyeing for a while. In terms of playing experience and leadership qualities, Musiala might not match up to Kevin just yet, but I believe with time in the Premier League, if he plays here, he'll be able to break through and become a top midfielder in a short period.
