I agree with you. Zimbabwe is not that good of a team as an opponent. They have been performing very badly and they even failed to qualify from the African region in the T20 World Cup where the teams are not that good. It is very disappointing for Zimbabwe if you ask me. And now Sri Lanka are playing against them and the match which was finished went so close. The performance has been in decline for Sri Lanka. I don't think they can do much in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

I think they are wasting their time playing with Zimbabwe though. They need to find better opponents to challenge themselves. Because any team other than Zimbabwe would have won the matches if they were to perform like that.

This was bound to happen. First of all, Sri Lanka doesn't have a large population. Their population is much lower than that of other South Asian nations such as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. And secondly, they don't have a proper first class system. The first class system in Sri Lanka is comprised of clubs in Colombo playing against each other. There is no such system in any of the other cities such as Jaffna and Galle. When entire domestic system is concentrated in just one city, it blunts the emergence of talent from other regions.

@Sithara007 I also believe the former Srilankan player’s could have done a better job at finding talents and help improve the team but they have neglected the team and if they get actively involved then Srilankan cricket could get boosted. Furthermore their board needs to invest more in their player’s because I’m sure that this Srilankan team can improve and all they need is correct motivation and guidance.
