Breaking News!

Bad news has come for Leverkusen because their mainstay striker this season, Victor Boniface, is reportedly injured and will be out for 6 weeks. The player from Nigeria also had to miss AFCON and I think this is a loss experienced by Nigeria and Leverkusen because they have to lose a very important figure in the competition. Victor Boniface has a right muscle-tendon injury and will undergo surgery in the next few days.

It seems that the intensity of the existing competition meant he had to step aside early before AFCON and the Bundesliga at the start of this year. Once again, Victor Boniface is a victim of the national competition he has to play for and previously we knew at Leverkusen he had no injury problems at all. Obviously this will be the biggest loss for Leverkusen because they lost the spearhead of their attack while currently topping the standings.

This is like what happened to Sadio Mane when he played for Bayern Munich and was injured so he couldn't play for Senegal in the Qatar World Cup, and both of them were quite disadvantaged by what Mane experienced, but the case is a little bit different.
Bayer Leverkusen certainly does not expect this because the club really hopes that he will always be fit to continue to help his team achieve victory in league matches, and when it comes to plays against Leipzig and Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga match and the DFB Cup quarter-final against Stuttgart it will be very difficult for Leverkusen without Boniface.
When I heard the news of Victor Boniface injury that'll rule him out for the next six weeks, I felt very bad about it because the Nigeria international was supposed to already in the list of players that'll play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the CAF African Cup Of Nations which will kick off later this month. His injury has ruled him out of the tournament and that news has been a big blow to the national team coach of Nigeria but more disturbing to Xabi Alonso who's the manager of Victor Boniface at Bayer Leverkusen.

Boniface have been absolutely clinical for his club Bayer Leverkusen since the start of the season and his very impressive performances is the reason why the club is still at the top of the German Bundesliga table till date. His temporary absence I think will affect his team's performance in the few games they'll play without him.
