Now the CONMEBOL qualifiers will have 6 teams qualifying directly and the 7th place team will try to classify in a play-off match (probably against a team from Oceania, and usually teams from South America win that the match and the spot)
So the chances are even greater, only 3 teams will be out of 2026 WC
For world cup edition, CONMEBOL zone have many teams will qualify to FIFA World Cup 2026 with 6 teams automatically qualify and one team will get ticket trough playoff round. Brazil and Argentina will get not problem finish on six standings position to get automatically qualify round exactly CONMEBOL its not highest intention than European zone.
Actually the CONMEBOL teams achievement in FIFA World Cup not really bad exactly after Argentina become the winner on last edition, I think next edition of FIFA World Cup 2026 seems potential between Argentina or Brazil will get highest round until semifinal or final round.
