Yesterday West Ham lost in the FA cup against a team playing in a much lower division than the Premier League and that for me was a really big surprise result.A team from the Premier League who happen to have won not long ago the Europa Conference League to lose to a team playing in a lower division. That shows that West Ham is truly in a volatile performance in the Premier League.
I thought West Ham would recover in the second half, but Benrahma's red card turned the whole order upside down. Unfortunately, after this moment, nothing was achieved other than waiting helplessly against Bristol. They don't care much about the FA Cup, but it must still be sad for them to lose to a team in the lower league.
I was also very surprised when I saw West ham lose to Bristol. The reason is, West Ham currently has a not too bad record in the Premier League. Namely in 6th place in the standings. Meanwhile, Bristol itself is currently ranked 14th in the league standings (lower division). So if you look at it from here, it's actually not difficult for West Ham to beat Bristol.
However, in reality West Ham was unable to score a single goal.
But even so, in fact the West Ham players created many opportunities from the first half until the final whistle sounded. However, unfortunately this opportunity was not utilized optimally by the West Ham players. It is also possible that because of Benrahma's dismissal, West Ham's front line became a little shaky and unstable in launching its attacks. Because after all, losing in the number of players has a very big influence. So, the attacks carried out by West Ham players against Bristol's goal were less than optimal and less accurate.
So West Ham ultimately had to be satisfied with the result of their defeat. Even though the FA Cup is not very important for West Ham, losing to a team below it feels a little disappointing. But that's the world of football, anything can happen. No matter how strong a team is, if its players' performance declines, even weak teams can sometimes beat them.
