I personally might understand the reasons behind why the club chose Daniele De Rossi. Because it is this coach who actually understands AS Roma much longer than the others. Because Daniele De Rossi is a former AS Roma player and he played for AS Roma for quite a long time.
And what's more, Daniele De Rossi's contract at Roma is also not a long contract. But only a short contract until June 2024.
So the club is also careful in this regard. And maybe he will consider a long contract if Daniele De Rossi shows good performance as Roma coach for the remainder of this season.
Daniele De Rossi is no different from Xavi for Barcelona, both of whom are players who graduated from their respective teams' academies who were appointed as coaches. I haven't considered Daniele De Rossi as a coach who has a big chance of restoring Roma's form, but as a coach he definitely has the best vision and mission for the club he coaches.
Roma is so far ranked 9th with 3 defeats and 1 draw in the last 5 matches. Roma was only able to win 1 match from the last 5 matches, which is why Mourinho failed to maintain his position as coach. Thanks Mourinho, it was worth it after Roma got some things improving.
That's true but there is still no guarantee that it will work out under those conditions. Now I think you are specifically referring to players who played for their club and then also become a coach of that club. The identification level is high, but still it doesn't make a good coach yet. Not every player is born to be a great coach. You can see all kinds of examples and it doesn't always have to be the club they were raised in when they take over the coaching position. Xabi Alonso is doing an incredible job, Steven Gerrard is losing all his credibility. Wayne Rooney is a diificult case in my opinion. I think he really wants to but lacks some charisma or something.
